We provide information and advice on children's eye care as they grow. We encourage parents to ask us about all aspects of their child's sight and offer a wide range of children's frames
We understand that children and their parents can be very concerned about the eye examination and the possible outcome of it. At Meryl James Opticians we have a very patient friendly approach to eyecare. Years of experience have taught us how to put patients of all ages at ease and we are often praised for our ability to do that. Children’s eye exams are tailored for each child’s needs and ability. We have the latest technology and can use this to make the eye exam feel like a game for children. We will give the parent a full explanation of our findings and discuss with them the best future management of their child’s eyes.
Children do not have to be able to read to have their eyes examined. It is possible to see whether the child has a squint, or needs glasses, without asking them any questions, using age appropriate tests and equipments. Eye examinations do not hurt. It might be necessary to put drops into your child’s eyes so that they can be tested to see if they need glasses and the backs of the eyes are healthy. If this is the case for your child, it will be discussed with you in advance.
